Nissan turned up to find Wilf Rafa Constantine had been wheeling and dealing again and had sold Kevin Divine (Dunston), Craig Shields (Ryhope) and Paul Brown (Ryhope). That left Nissan with a weakened bench as half of the poor soles on it were injured, most noteable Ben Ryan who at the minute is "just straight running."
Whitley Bay were the stronger of the two teams at the interval which left some players trying to organise the team, who should play where and so on. After a few choice words by some players it lead the gaffer to really stamp his mark, shouting "i'm the manager and if it goes wrong then i'm to blame, just get out there and play football."
Thats exactly what Nissan did as they tried to stretch Whitley Bay's defence. For the fifth game running Cogdon was involved in both goals, first Bay keeper Terry Burke brought him down in the box which left Gary Pearson to show the srong crowd how to dispatch a penalty, putting it high to Burke's left after 63 minutes.
Strong pressure by Whitley lead to a counter attack as Cogdon ran from the half way line down the left hand side chased by Bay Captain David Coulson, after shrugging Coulson off with gritt and determination and lets add abit of muscle Cogdon was able to MEG (SOCCER AM STYLE) the final defender before producing a strong shot which was guided into the goal to make it look even better past Burke.
Nissan hung on with some strong defensive tackles and kept there first clean sheet for some time.
A true performance from back to front and two well taken chances was the difference.

"A quick word for Davey Tait who struggled on after a first half injury, he just wouldn't come off and worked his socks off. That performance will earn him a goal very soon and then they will be no stopping him.
Let me also add that the lads were told "when the balls dead, we come alive."
They did it superbly today so i'm thrilled."
