Nissan opened this match impressively and could have taken the lead inside the first 5 minutes when Tait, returning after a lengthy spell on the sidelines through injury, created an opening for Hodgson but his effort went wide.
After 18 minutes Shildon's goalkeeper Spence was dismissed for handling outside the area, from the resulting freekick taken by Cullen the stand in keeper Gredziak made a superb save but the rebound was slotted home by Tait.
Nissan had to wait until the 44th minute before they created another chance when the lively Tait rounded the keeper to score his second.
Within a minute Shildon had reduced the arrears with a well taken goal headed in at the far post by Everitt
The second half was notable only for the excellent performance of a resolute Shildon team who never gave up and looked to have equalised when Masters put the ball into the net only to be ruled off side.
Nissan were awarded a penalty after 75 mins but Cullen's weak effort was easily saved by Gredziak.
This only stirred Shildon into action and they went close from a freekick which was well saved by Newton.

"Possibly the worst performance by Nissan this season. Against the resiliant 10 men of Shildon, who at times had the eleven men of Nissan running around like headless chicken's.
2-1 flattered Nissan but it was another 3 points to move them into 3rd place in the League.
On the plus side, the sign of a good team is said to be a one that can win even when playing badly.
