A scintillating seven minutes at the start of this ANL division 1 match saw Spennymoor score two supurb goals to stun sunderland Nissan. the first in the opening minute came from a corner and was volleyed home from ten yards by Storr. The second on seven minutes was scored by Jamie Clarke when he blasted home from 20 yards when there appeared to be little danger. nissan tried to respond to these early set backs and only a goal line clearance by Robinson denied Tait. The game was very high tempo throughout and it was not a suprise that there was plenty of goalmouth action, both defences were having to cope with some very good outfield play. In the 40 th minute Hodgson turn quickly but his shot went narrowly over the bar. The second half saw Nissan attacking down the slope and putting Spennymoor under a lot of pressure. However they were unable to get a clear shot on target and Spennymoor were utilising Stuart Irvine to good effect in numerous counter attacks. On the hour mark an horrendous back pass from Leon Ryan exposed the Nissan keeper Paul Newton and as he raced out to clear the ball was adjudged to have fouled Storr and was dismissed. Scott took over in goal and made his one and only save from the resulting freekick. Nissan changed formation to 3-3-3 in a bid to get back into the game but for all their possession they couldn't find a shot to worry the Spennymmor keeper. They paid the price for some terrible crossing and shooting in the last minute when Irvine supplied the pass for Robinson to score.

"Paid the price for a cold start and inadequate finishing in the final third. "
