Gavin Cogdon, Nissan's leading scorer, has committed himself to Nissan until at least the end of the season.
After protracted discussions with the Manager and Chairman at Nissan following a 7 day notice request from Gateshead, Gavin has decided that the move to Gateshead will not take place. Hopefully, this shows the affection and commitment that Gavin has for Nissan and sends out a clear message to the teams who are "sniffing about" that Gavin is not going anywhere at the moment.

Gretna Eye Cogdon
It has been heavily rumoured that Gretna are keen on Nissan's top scorer Gavin Cogdon after former Carlisle manager Mick Wadsworth watched Cogdon in action at Nissan’s 2-2 draw at Dunston.
However no approach has been made for the Northern Leagues current top scorer with 12 goals and with the start of his 3 game suspension this weekend it will be hard for them to see what more he has to offer.
Nissan will also miss Stewart Dixon and Chris Scott who were also sent off in the F.A VAse tie at Durham City.
With the three suspensions Manager Wilf Costantine feels he still has a strong squad of players to select from for the tie against local Northern League opposition Seaham RS.

Cogdon Injured
Manager Wilf Constantine was not happy to here the news of the leagues top scorer injured during Sunday League Football.
Gavin was brought off in the first 10minutes on sunday which looks like a ankle injury however it doesn't look to bad.
Wilf added "Gavin is suspended next week for three games which means his missing now for 3 weeks because of this injury, this is not ideal because unless he keeps himself right, its like starting pre-season again."
Wilf stated that Gavin has had a fitness plan drawn up which will include Active Recovery/Rest which will consist of some swimming and low impact activities for the first week. His also got a Strength and Conditioning plan drawn up consisting of split routines throughout the following 2 weeks, along with his diet he should be back ready in no time. The exercise consultant said that Gavin will be working towards OBLA (onset of blood lactate) before his back playing which will prepare him properly and added to that some fartlek (speed play) training to mirror the way the game is played.
This will also give the new boys a chance to stake their claim for a place in the side.
